bridging the gap

Bridging the Gap — Step Up Aim High

At Step Up Aim High, we believe in building intergenerational connections that strengthen community and serve those most in need. Through our Bridging the Gap initiative, young volunteers ages 8–17 step out of the classroom and into service, offering compassion, support, and meaningful engagement with our senior neighbors.

Our youth volunteers serve in a variety of capacities—from assisting at community events to preparing and delivering meals—empowering them to grow as leaders while deepening empathy and civic pride. Each act of service supports our broader mission to enhance the quality of life for underserved community members.

Thankful Tuesday Feeding Event

A cornerstone of Bridging the Gap is our Thankful Tuesday Feeding Event—a community gathering where volunteers help prepare and serve nutritious meals to seniors in the Central City area. This event not only feeds bodies but also nurtures intergenerational bonds and community spirit.

Impact to Date

  • Served over 125 seniors with holiday meals.

  • Creatively engaged young volunteers in service and leadership.

  • Strengthened community ties between youth and elders in Central City.

Why It Matters

Bridging the Gap aligns with Step Up Aim High’s commitment to service, empowerment, and connection. By including youth in community service efforts, we:

  • Encourage civic responsibility and empathy in younger generations.

  • Provide essential support to seniors, reducing isolation and hunger.

  • Foster stronger, more connected neighborhoods.
